Copper Coast Masters Games wrap up

The SA Masters Games wrapped up on the Copper Coast yesterday, 14 April, and Games Coordinator Lyn Spurling says people came from all over.

“People travelled from regional South Australia or from Adelaide, and interstaters as well, Ms Spurling says.

“Some competitors travelled from Tasmania, from Victoria, New South Wales, ACT, and even Perth.”

Over 1,000 people took part in the event this year, and attention now turns to Port Augusta, who will be hosting the games for the first time next year.

There were incredible athletes gathered this year, but one stands out from the pack.

“Our oldest is Percy – Percy is 94.

“The shot-put, the 60 m, the 100 m, and the 200 m, which I think is absolutely amazing because, at 94 to be able to even walk that distance is a great feat.”
