Sydney Sweeney’s Devil Wears Prada 2 Cameo Cut at the Last Minute

The 28‑year‑old actress has reportedly been cut from The Devil Wears Prada 2, despite earlier buzz suggesting she’d be popping up in a short cameo. Speculation kicked off last year when Sweeney was snapped on set in New York, instantly sending fans into a frenzy over what her role might be.

Now, Entertainment Weekly has reported that Sweeney’s scene won’t be making the final cut. According to the outlet, her cameo was removed due to a behind‑the‑scenes decision, with a source saying it was simply a “creative decision.”

Entertainment Weekly also reported that “that the actress filmed a scene that would’ve appeared near the beginning of the film, though a source explains that it was a “creative decision” to nix the bit altogether.”

So what exactly got left on the runway? The brief moment reportedly showed Sweeney being styled by Emily Blunt’s character, who has since climbed the fashion ladder to become the head of Dior’s U.S. division. The scene ran about three minutes long, but ultimately didn’t fit the flow of the film.

E! News explained that Sweeney’s appearance “did not ‘work structurally with the rest of the sequence.’” Still, there was nothing personal behind the cut. Those involved in the sequel were said to be “grateful for her participation, making the decision to remove the bit a difficult one.”

While Sweeney’s cameo didn’t survive final edits, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is far from short on star power. The film is stacked with fashion and pop culture royalty. Lady Gaga shows up onscreen and also contributed a new Doechii‑assisted track, “Runway,” to the soundtrack. Fashion icon Donatella Versace filmed a cameo in Milan, while supermodel Naomi Campbell appears alongside Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly during a Dolce & Gabbana spring 2026 runway show shot live at Milan Fashion Week.

As for Sweeney, there’s no shortage of projects ahead. She’s set to step back into the role of Cassie Howard when Euphoria returns for its highly anticipated third season.

The Devil Wears Prada 2, the long‑awaited follow‑up to the 2006 cult classic, is scheduled to hit theaters in May 2026 — with or without a Sydney Sweeney surprise.
