Major upgrades are planned next month for key transport links through the Yorke Peninsula and Mid North.

As part of a $168 million national spend on road safety in South Australia, the stretch of Upper Yorke Road between Kulpara and Arthurton, and the stretch between Port Broughton and Bute, will undergo shoulder sealing, curve widening, safety barrier installation, hazard removal and Audio Tactile Line Marking.

Thiele Highway from Kapunda to Eudunda will also undergo treatment.

CEO of Grain Producers SA Brad Perry has welcomed the news that the stretch of road between Arthurton and Kulpara is receiving an upgrade, after the organisation listed it as one of the top ten worst grain roads in the state.

Barunga West Council Mayor Maree Wauchope agrees the works on Upper Yorke Road are a significant step forward for road safety.

Minister for Regional Roads Geoff Brock has welcomed works that will make key transport corridors throughout the state safer, saying this is especially important after a horror year on SA roads in 2023.
