Major legal reforms are on the horizon.
The government is proposing permanent changes to the Oaths Act, allowing electronic signing and remote witnessing for statutory declarations and affidavits.
This means South Australians can sign documents digitally, saving time and costs.
The move aligns SA with other jurisdictions and benefits residents in regional and remote areas with limited access lawyers and trusted persons who are eligible to sign and witness statutory declarations and affidavits.
In a bid to ensure the changes reflect public needs, a consultation will be held later this year.
