Community spirit in Laura has been recognised at a state level, with the Laura Nature Playground Committee receiving a commendation at the 2026 State Citizen of the Year Awards.
The committee was honoured in the Active Citizenship category, recognising years of volunteer work that brought the popular, nature‑inspired playground to life.
What began as a small fundraising effort grew into a major community project, driven by a passionate group of local parents and volunteers. Their efforts helped turn a long‑held community vision into a much‑loved play space.
