Shark management plans up for discussion following Elliston attack

The state’s sixth shark attack in 12 months has prompted calls for action to protect South Australian surfers and swimmers.

Less than two weeks after a fatal shark attack near the Yorke Peninsula’s Ethel Beach, a 64-year-old surfer was bitten at Elliston on the Eyre Peninsula on Tuesday, 9 January.

A round table will be held next month in a bid to prevent future attacks, with shark-proof swimming areas and tagging up for discussion.
