Seven arrested following Whyalla break-ins

Seven people have been arrested following a series of break-ins and thefts across the Whyalla area over the weekend.

Police allege an attempt was made to enter a home at Whyalla Stuart about 12:15am on Sunday, June 14, however no entry was gained and nothing was stolen.

A short time later, at about 12:30am, the occupant of another Whyalla Stuart home woke to find a male inside the property. The suspect fled when confronted, and nothing was taken.

Between 11pm on Saturday, June 13 and 5:30am the following day, a home at Whyalla Norrie was broken into, with two Ford sedans allegedly stolen.

Later that morning, at about 11:45am, police allege entry was made through an unlocked rear door of a Whyalla Stuart home, with a wallet, car keys and a Kia SUV taken.

All stolen vehicles have since been recovered.

Following investigations, five Whyalla boys aged 11, 12, 13, 14 and 17 have each been charged with unlawful possession. They were bailed to appear in the Whyalla Youth Court on August 4.

A 15-year-old boy from Port Augusta West has been charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, hinder or resist arrest and being unlawfully on premises. He has been bailed to appear in the Port Augusta Youth Court on July 15.

A 19-year-old man from Whyalla Stuart has also been charged with unlawful possession and bailed to appear in the Whyalla Magistrates Court on August 10.

Police investigations are ongoing.
