In a two hour early morning blitz last Wednesday, Police and the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator stopped light and heavy vehicles at driver testing stations on the Lincoln Highway.
Police issued nine expiation and ten defect notices. Over 100 drivers also submitted to a breath test pleasingly no one recorded a positive result.
One of the light vehicle was defected for having no front braking force and seatbelts which failed to operate, a heavy vehicle was defected for major braking component failures and a destroyed tyre which had come off the bead and was dragging under the chassis.
Police warn motorists that they will be out in force in coming months on rural roads in an attempt to reduce serious injury and fatal crashes whilst targeting fatal five and vehicle standards offence.
