Police officer hit with car in Mid North

A police officer was airlifted to Royal Adelaide Hospital after being hit by a car in Ucolta on Friday, 29 March.

The local Brevet Sergeant was attempting to stop the vehicle when he was struck and injured on the Barrier Highway around 3pm.

The silver Holden SUV allegedly left the scene and was tracked by PolAir as it continued south on the Barrier Highway.

The driver was taken into custody roughly 45 minutes later without further incident.

The 43-year-old Victorian man was arrested and charged with attempted murder, acts to endanger life, dangerous driving to escape police pursuit, leave the scene of an accident and other traffic offences.

He appeared in Port Pirie Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 2 March.

The officer suffered non-life threatening injuries.
