Nyrstar Australia’s 2024 Apprenticeship Program Open

The South Australian Minister for Education, Training and Skills, Blair Boyer has announced the opening for applications for Nyrstar Australia’s 2024 Apprenticeship Program at the multi-metal processing facility in Port Pirie.

Nyrstar Port Pirie currently employs 56 Trade Apprentices across the fields of Boilermaking, Electrical Maintenance and Fitting and Turning, with 16 more first-years commencing in January 2024.

Over the past five years, more than 90 percent of apprentices employed by Nyrstar in Port Pirie complete their four-year trade qualification and then continue into a permanent tradesperson position on site.

Boyer said that tradespeople were critical to the future of the South Australian economy.

Saying Apprentices will get the opportunity not only to learn and develop but be part of producing critical minerals that the world needs.
