A man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting an elderly man in his backyard at Peterborough on Monday afternoon.

It is alleged the victim – a man in his 70s – was in his rear yard when he heard a disturbance on the street just before 3pm on 28 July.

It will be further alleged the suspect entered the property and punched the man in the face, knocking off his glasses, before walking away.

He did not apply for bail and fronted the Port Pirie Magistrates Court on 29 July.
