Shops in Kadina and Wallaroo have been hit with closure orders as South Australia cracks down on illicit tobacco and vapes…
Since new enforcement powers came into effect on 5 June, authorities have shut 100 stores statewide and seized around $50 million in illegal products.
This includes 41 million cigarettes, 140,000 vapes, and 13,500 kilograms of loose tobacco.
Two long-term closures are already in place, with five more being processed through the Magistrates Court.
The state’s $16 million illicit tobacco taskforce is targeting organised crime and enforcing some of the toughest penalties in the country, including fines of up to $6.6 million.
