It was an emotional day in Whyalla on Friday, with the coke ovens closing after 55 years and 55 days of operations.
Current employees and more than 20 past employees were in attendance, including Richard Insall and Brian Moodie who were present for the first ever push at the coke ovens in 1968.
This comes as Whyalla pursues a GREENSTEEL and carbon neutral future.
