In the Clare Valley, OzFish, a fishing conservation charity, and SA Water have teamed up to breathe new life into Bundaleer Reservoir.
Following successful projects at Warren Reservoir, OzFish members from the Barossa-Mid North Chapter embarked on a mission to enhance this renowned fishing spot.
Their goal was to create a better habitat for native fish species like golden perch, silver perch, and Murray cod.
OzFish Project Manager Rachel Williams explained that they constructed six intricate habitat structures using Eucalyptus branches because many fish rely on woody habitats.
Led by Chapter president Luke Chamings, volunteers used chainsaws to craft these structures, later attaching them to limestone rocks for stability.
SA Water deployed them strategically based on GPS mapping to benefit local fish populations.
