Homelessness week runs from the 7th of August to 11th to raise awareness of the impact of homelessness in Australia.

The Salvation Army is the provider for the generic homelessness service in Port Augusta assisting anyone over the age of 25 who is currently homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

They are planning on an event partnering with Woolworths seeking donations of $2 to display cards in the front windows at Woolworths.

Each card represents one of the housing options available either through public housing, community housing or a supported housing provider.

In Port Augusta this is around 860.

The money raised from this fundraiser will go to help those in most need in the Port Augusta community.

There is also an event at the Salvation Army on Wednesday 9th of August 11:30am -1pm where The Salvation Army Emergency Services truck is coming up from Adelaide and we will be offering a free lunch to anyone in the community.

Lastly the Country North Homelessness Alliance will be having a free Community BBQ at Gladstone square on Friday the 11th 12pm-2pm. The Country North Homeless Alliance is made up of homelessness services ranging from the Yorke and Mid-North to Ceduna and everywhere in between.
