GPSA opposes changes to new Heavy Vehicle Strategy on YP

Grain Producers SA is urging Yorke Peninsula Councillors to oppose a Heavy Vehicle Strategy, with concerns about the ramifications the changes could have on the multi-billion dollar grain industry.

The ‘Strategy for managing risk of B Double+ Access to YPC’s Road network post HDS road network reviews’ suggests speed limit drops on dirt roads, night curfews, and wet condition restrictions.

GPSA have made a submission on the Strategy through the consultation process, and encourage others to do the same before the deadline on Friday, 24 May.

GPSA CEO Brad Perry says if these measures are implemented, grain harvest would be severely impacted, risking production efficiency, grain quality and creating safety issues.
