A new festival celebrating our state’s floral emblem, the desert pea, is set to bloom in Port Augusta later this year.
The Desert Pea Festival will be held at the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden on 7 November, showcasing local nature, culture and community.
The festival is set to feature guided walks, guest speakers, plant sales, live music and local performers.

Organiser Myles McClure told the Transcontinental the committee is hoping the wider community can get involved in the lead up, with hopes the event will draw visitors to stay longer in the city.
They’re hoping to make the event an annual attraction in the future.
