It was a big weekend for footy grand finals across the region.
In the Northern Areas League, Crystal Brook won big, smashing Orroroo by 44 points.
What started as a quiet first quarter with one goal kicked between both teams, later saw Crystal Brook take control in the second half and steam ahead to victory.
Crystal Brook’s Brayden Kirk kicked 4 goals, bringing the final score to 72 to 28.
It was a successful weekend for the premiership winners, with their 18s and B grade also taking home the flag.
Meanwhile BSR’s dynasty in the North Eastern League continues, taking the flag for a sixth time in a row on Saturday.
Challengers Min Man Eagles pushed the reigning premiers harder than any team in a recent grand final, leading by 9 points at three quarter time.
However they only managed 4 points in the final quarter, while BSR kicked four goals.
The Tigers ended up walking away with a 12-point win bringing the final score to 71 to 59.
BSR’s Matt Longbottom was named best on ground, topping off the Tigers’ the 8th win out of the last 9 premierships.
Solomontown have taken out the grand final of the Spencer Gulf League, defeating Port in a strong performance on Saturday.
Port were hoping to break their dry spell, marking their first A grade grand final appearance in 14 years.
However Solomontown were too strong, leading from the first quarter to finish 75 to 41.
Solomontown’s Tyson Webber was named best on ground – while former GC Suns player Timmy Sumner scored three goals for the winning side.
And it’s a rivalry that’s been building very nicely on the Yorke Peninsula – with CMS Crows once again scoring the flag over Moonta.
Moonta were leading by 27 points at half time, with Dylan Aldridge kicked six goals to lead the tally, but it wasn’t enough as the Crows clawed back to win by 39 points.
The final score was 104 to 65, marking the Crows’ seventh premiership.
