New claims have emerged that bikie inmates at Port Augusta Prison are cashing in by extorting other prisoners’ families for rent money.
The incident is reportedly operating inside the Prison’s Saltbush Unit, with bikies allegedly threatening to hurt inmates unless their families pay up to $400 for rent.
A corrections officer told News Corp management became aware of the scheme after several families started raising concerns.

It’s further alleged the bikies are controlling the prison’s drug supply with contraband being tossed over the prison fence.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Correctional Services said security is being boosted and more searches are now being carried out.
