Roadside Attractions and Saban Films have recently dropped the red-band trailer for the horror-thriller Crawlers, from filmmaker Ángel Gómez Hernández, director of The Boogeyman.

The story follows building manager Serena, played by Matilda Lutz, who’s trapped inside her apartment complex after a sudden police-mandated quarantine. What starts as a lockdown quickly turns deadly when an infestation of aggressive, rapidly multiplying spiders takes over. Serena’s deep knowledge of every corridor and stairwell may be the residents’ only hope of survival… if she can first face her own deepest fears.

“In CRAWLERS, a catastrophic infestation of venomous and deadly spiders sends an apartment building into lockdown. Trapped inside by a police-mandated quarantine, building manager Serena (Lutz) and her residents battle to survive as the creatures multiply by the second. Armed with her intimate knowledge of the complex, Serena may be the only one who can keep them alive—if she can confront her deepest fear.”

Saban co-presidents Shanan Becker and Jonathan Saba describe the film as “a uniquely visceral horror experience” and “a true, unapologetic genre film.”

Written by Jayson Rothwell and produced by a team including Scott Strauss, Peter Welter, Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Josh Weinstock and Alexandra Milchan, Crawlers is built for pure, high-tension scares.

If spiders already make your skin crawl, this one might just leave you checking every corner of the room as there will always be more of them than there are of you.

“Crawlers” releases in cinemas on October 16th.
