Plans are underway for a new Pirie Proud Walk that would celebrate Port Pirie’s history and community pride at Memorial Park.
The project is a partnership between the Port Pirie Lions Club, Port Pirie Regional Council and John Pirie Secondary School, and would be located at the entrance to Memorial Park.
The proposed walk would showcase 11 local stories, highlighting notable people and places connected to the city, with stories presented through plinths and display panels.
Students from John Pirie Secondary School will help research and share the stories of well‑known local figures from years past, contributing to the project.
Council is supporting the initiative with design, site preparation and installation works.
Deputy Mayor Alan Zubrinich says the walk would honour local heritage and help strengthen community pride, while providing an additional point of interest for residents and visitors.
