Netflix has just dropped the official trailer for “Being Eddie,” a brand-new documentary exploring the life and career of legendary actor and comedian Eddie Murphy. The film dives into how Murphy skyrocketed to fame at a young age and became a global cultural icon.

At just 17, Murphy was a regular in New York’s stand-up comedy clubs. Only a year later, fresh out of high school, he joined the cast of “Saturday Night Live” (SNL). At the peak of his early career, he simultaneously had a hit movie at the box office, a hit song on the charts, and a hit comedy special.

“My stuff took off because they’d never seen a young Black person take charge,” Murphy reflects in the documentary.
