Dialling The Wrong Number From Space

We've all done it, thought we were dialing our mum or our mates only to hear some random pick up on the other end of the line who is deffs not our mum.. 

But what happens when you do that from space? One Dutch Astronaut found out the hard way. 


Astronaut Andre Kuipers appeared on a Dutch radio show where he shared his experience of making a simple phone call from on board the International Space Station.. 

He ended up calling 911, the emergency line for the United States! 

Apparently to make a call from the space station, you have to dial 9, and then the number for an international line, 011. In this case, our poor Astronaut forgot to punch in the 0.

The accident triggered an alert at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. 

The next day he allegedly received an email message asking if he called 911.. 

This isn't the first time this has happened!
