Burger King in Russia has backpedaled so hard on their recent promotion for the World Cup.
They promised a lifetime supply of Whoppers to any woman who could get knocked up by a World Cup player.
We're not kidding:
There are no words. @BurgerKing launched a promotion offering a lifetime supply of free whoppers to any Russian women who got pregnant by a World Cup footballer. The campaign has been cancelled, but WHO THOUGHT OF THAT?!?! pic.twitter.com/bYXFNcGRe7— Bryan MacDonald (@27khv) June 20, 2018
The post roughly says:
Burger King, in the framework of social responsibility, has appointed a reward for girls who get pregnant from the stars of world football.
Each will receive 3 million Rubles (about AUD$64,000) and a lifetime supply of Whoppers.
Girls who will be able to get the best football genes will lay the success of the Russian national team for generations to come.
Go! We believe in you!
The marketing genius behind that one is surely out of a job by now right??
Burger King Russia released a statement apologising for the campaign saying it didn't reflect their brand or values and they are taking steps to ensure this doesn't happen again.
