Human Remains Found At Scene Of Suspicious House Fire

UPDATE | Human remains have been discovered inside the burnt out shell of a home in Lakes Creek, in the Rockhampton region, on Thursday.  

Emergency services were called to the address on Hill Street at around 2:30am following reports of a home on fire.

After the fire was brought under control emergency services located human remains inside the house.

Police have yet to confirm the identity or gender of the person.

A crime scene has been declared with fire investigators and forensic officers expected to attend the scene today.

The fire is considered suspicious.

EARLIER | A house has gone up in flames at Lakes Creek.  

Three fire crews were called to a property on Hill Street at 2.29AM on Thursday.

Crews said they could see the glow from the fire from quite a distance away.  

The two storey home was engulfed in flames when they arrived, with the blaze brought under control by 3:40AM.  

Paramedics checked one person, they weren't injured.  

Two crews remain at the scene on Thursday and are dampening down hot spots.  

Police are on scene and a fire investigator will head out to comb through the wreckage on Thursday.
