Cardinal George Pell has been spotted arriving at Melbourne's Court of Appeal on Wednesday.
The 77-year-old will challenge his child sex abuse convictions after he was found guilty of abusing choirboys in the 1990's.
He was transported from prison to the Victorian Supreme Court for the hearing and spotted heading in a door behind a fence with Police Officers standing guard.
Wednesday's appeal will be live-streamed on the court's website with media outlets blocked from rebroadcasting the hearing according to the ABC.
Pell was jailed for a maximum of six years back in March, the judge noting the cardinal could die in prison.
But he will be eligible for parole in little more than three years time.
The ABC reports Pell will argue that the jury verdict was unreasonable, and that two errors were made in the way the trial was run.
