An Australian teenager has been killed during a skiing holiday in Austria.
Police said a 16-year-old boy lost his life in an avalanche in St. Anton am Arlberg ski village on Wednesday.
The boy had been holidaying with his mother, father and younger brother when they found themselves stuck on steep terrain and called for help.
It is believed the avalanche struck while they were waiting for help to arrive, burying the 16-year-old and his mother but she was able to get herself out.
It took around 20 minutes to retrieve his body.
The Department Of Foreign Affairs and Trade is yet to issue a comment.
