A NSW couple in their 70s have been caught up in an $11 million Sydney car insurance fraud investigation.

A 72-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman were arrested by detectives at their Hinchinbrook home in Sydney's southwest on Wednesday morning.

The pair were later charged over a car crash in their home suburb in April 2015 for which they allegedly submitted a fraudulent compulsory third party insurance claim of $280,000.

They were both granted conditional bail and are due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on July 18, each charged with one count of conspiring to cheat and defraud.

To date, Strike Force Ravens investigators have arrested 20 people and laid more than 120 charges in relation to a combined fraud of more than $11 million.

Investigations are ongoing and further arrests are expected.
