Tickera Residents Battling Mobile Phone Black Zone

The township of Tickera have been living in a mobile phone black spot for years, and residents are calling out for improved coverage.

Many residents have reportedly been lobbying for better coverage for up to 20 years, with Tickera Recreation and Community Association Member, Chris Knight, saying it is a confirmed black spot but nothing is being done to fix it.

Residents have reported fears of being isolated without communication services, with the inability to call triple zero, the CFS, coast guard or medical services all impacted by the black zone.

A petition which gathered 100 signatures, as well as a letter from Member for Narungga, Fraser Ellis, to the Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development, David Basham, have been submitted in the hope of sparking change.

The issue is now in the hands of the State and Federal Governments.
