Strict measures have been put in place in Port Augusta, as a new Fruit Fly outbreak is declared in the area.
A new fruit fly eradication response is already underway with baiting and ground treatment working to contain the outbreak in Port Augusta, and ultimately protecting the state’s $1.3 billion horticulture industry and the thousands of jobs it supports.
A 1.5 kilometre red outbreak area and 7.5 kilometre yellow suspension area have been established.
Restrictions will remain until at least 18 November 2021, subject to no further detections.
Residents are urged to check if they fall inside the red outbreak area or yellow suspension zone: fruitfly.sa.gov.au
Residents are also asked to clean up over-ripe or fallen fruit and place in your kerbside green bin (do not compost or bury).
