An outside manager has been brought in to run the Davenport Community near Port Augusta, following complaints by several residents of neglect leading to dilapidated buildings and dangerous living conditions.
The Aboriginal Lands Trust has taken responsibility for housing and local services from the Davenport Community Council, after the Council lost a key income stream and struggled to secure funding.
The Davenport Community Council (DCC) was the housing and services provider for the Indigenous community of Davenport for almost 40 years prior to the announcement this week.
The ALT have committed to ensuring that Davenport residents can look forward to improved management, easing residents’ concerns surrounding assets and infrastructure.
