The Copper Coast Council has secured over $2.6 million in funding as part of the State Government’s Local Government Infrastructure Partnership Program to upgrade Bay Road along the coast.
The successful application was part of Copper Coast Council’s commitment to improve rural roads for residents and tourists. The 2.2km upgrade is set to improve access to Moonta Bay - one of the Yorke Peninsula’s most popular beaches, and create nearly 20 local construction jobs to add $8 million to the region’s economy.
Council has promised every effort will be made to reduce inconvenience to community members, residents and road users. As works are undertaken on Bay Road, transportation of machinery and material will be conducted with dust and noise suppression controls in place.
