The Easter Weekend YP Art Exhibition has seen a significant increase in participation this year compared to that of 2018 with the event taking place this Friday the 2nd through until Sunday the 4th of April across the Yorke Peninsula.
The Exhibition has seen an overall increase in participation of 11% since 2018 with over 70 fine art/painting artists exhibiting 192 artworks; 18 photography artists showcasing 55 artworks; and 19 sculpture artists exhibiting 45 artworks. The total sales value of the works accumulate to just shy of $160,000.
In addition to the artworks submitted by individual artists there have been nine local schools who are set to exhibit 111 works of art completed by students. Schools taking part include:
Ardrossan Area School; Central Yorke School; Carramulka Primary School; Harvest Christian School; Maitland Lutheran School; Minlaton Area School; Moonta Area School; Stansbury Primary and Yorketown Area School photgraphy workshop with Petre Dobre and Vicki Freer.
To visit the exhibition is free with a choice gold coin donation, however there are also raffle tickets available for purchase at Maitland, Minlaton and Yorketown Council Offices, and the Ardrossan Progress Association.
The raffle features unique Prizes, generously donated by three local artists including;
1st Prize - Painting (oil) by Ruth Robinson ‘Surf and Sunrise’ valued at $850.00;
2nd Prize - Sculpture (forged steel) by Clayton Penley ‘Tiparra Rising’ valued at $550.00;
3rd Prize - Painting (oil) by Terry Braund 'Butlers Beach’ valued at $500.00.
The exhibition is spread across three townships, with each showcasing a different one of the three mediums. The Ardrossan town hall will be displaying fine art and paintings, the Yorketown Town Hall will be housing the Photography and Edithburgh Institute will showcase the Sculptures.
