Description:The State opposition are heading into the 2022 election on a platform including a Hydrogen Power Station, with calls for it to be built on the Spencer Gulf.

Under labor's proposal, they would see a 200 megawatt hydrogen power station, 250 megawatt hydrogen electrolysers, and a storage facility built, creating up to 300 jobs in the process.

Member for Giles Eddie Hughes believes the project should be located in Whyalla, with nearby Port Bonython already having the facilities to export the hydrogen produced locally.

Currently Whyalla's steelworks are provided zero-emission Hydrogen Gas produced out of Tonsley, south of Adelaide.
