Residents in Jamestown went without power Saturday night after a vehicle incident left over a thousand residents in the dark.

According to SA Power Networks, the blackout occurred after 8pm Saturday night when a road freight train pulled down a pole on Kilmarock Terrace, severing several spans of wire, disconnecting the town from the substation.

Three crews worked late into Saturday night to clear the area and install a new pole, with three new crews the next day restoring the wiring, switching power back on by 3pm.

Due to the location of the damaged pole, there was no alternative way to provide power to the Jamestown area until the damaged infrastructure was replaced.
