The average blood-lead level in two-year-old children in Port Pirie increased to it's highest ever since recording began, according to the latest data from SA Health.

The blood-lead level in children is considered a good indicator of lead exposure in the population, with the average lead level reaching 7.3 micrograms per decilitre of blood in 2020.

SA Health says these results aren't too surprising after the EPA recorded lead-in-air levels had increased over the last year.

Any blood-lead level above 5 micrograms per decilitre recorded in Port Pirie is investigated.
