Whyalla’s Disability Access and Inclusion Plan Reviewed

whyalla group

Whyalla City Council are still seeking community feedback on their draft Disability Access and Inclusion Plan which is currently being reviewed.

The draft plan was created on the back of extensive community surveys, with close to 200 people who are either living with disability or supporting someone with disability completing the survey.

Councillor Zia Westerman has said it was fantastic to have so many residents contribute to the drafting of the plan, she went on to say that “Without local knowledge, we wouldn’t know where to begin to identify how we can improve services and facilities across the city.”

Mayor Clare McLaughlin said, “Council are focused on ensuring that all residents are included in mainstream services, especially those with a disability, and that they feel respected as valued members of the community.”

She went on to say, “We are committed to delivering this plan over the next four years, ensuring our city is accessible, inclusive and promotes participation for all local residents.”
