This week Barunga West Council are inviting locals to join in the Aussie Backyard Bird Count for 2020.
From today, locals are encouraged to spend 20 minutes taking notes of the species of birds they see in their backyards, in an effort to provide ‘Birdlife Australia’ with information on trends in our bird communities for scientific research.
The Aussie Backyard Bird Count saw record-breaking numbers in 2019, with more people than ever before heading to their backyards and local green spaces to count their local birds. 3.4 million birds were counted across the nation, compared to 2018’s 2.7 million.
It is anticipated that this number will grow in 2020.
