Port Pirie Regional Council has endorsed a new proactive tree maintenance program following the success of a four-month trial period.
The new program follows a zone by zone approach, with a ‘tree crew’ zig-zagging across the region, allowing general tree trimming customer requests to be completed within four weeks, whilst allowing Council’s to map out and collect data on the trees in the region, including their type, age and condition.
Council have said the data will be continually updated to improve the knowledge and understanding of the tree assets.
During periods where there are no customer requests in a specific zone, the tree crew will undertake general tree maintenance such as formative pruning.
