Peterborough locals saw an apocalyptic storm pass through town, as gusts of wind averaging 60 to 70 kilometers swept through clouds of dust earlier this week.
SAPOL advised drivers to take care on the roads along Barrier Hwy between Peterborough and Yunta due to the dust storm that reduced visibility to 200m.
One local on SAPOL’s Facebook post urged residents to wear a mask if possible, to avoid breathing any dust into their lungs. Another suggested using towels under doors to ensure the dust didn’t make its way into homes.
The Bureau of Meteorology stated that the areas of raised dust were being fanned by strong winds associated with a cold front.
