Port Augusta’s ‘Cinema Augusta’ have hosted a community fundraiser which raised close to $12,000 for the South Australian Bushfire Appeal.
A sold-out screening of the film ‘Playing with Fire’ took place last week, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to those affected by both the Cudlee Creek and Kangaroo Island fires.
250 locals attended the event with various local business’s donating of up to $500 as well as all food, drinks and gift vouchers that were handed out on the night.
Michelle of Cinema Augusta said “It is incredible what the people of Port Augusta have done, coming together like this. We had people lining up to make donations at the door even after we were sold out.”
The funds were donated last Friday to the Bushfire Appeal.
