Police Suspect Whyalla Fire was Deliberately Lit

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at Point Lowly late last week and are asking for anyone in the area to contact police.

Police attended Point Lowly Road, Point Lowly about 6pm on Thursday following a report of a fire.  They located a fire in scrubland just off the road, about one kilometre from the Lincoln Highway.

The fire was extinguished by three MFS crews, with approximately 80 square metres burnt.

The fire is believed to have been deliberately lit.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw any suspicious activity or people are asked to contact their local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police remind all people to be vigilant in reporting suspicious people, vehicles or fires during the fire danger season.
