The Whyalla City Council are seeking expressions of interest from builders, local companies, workers and suppliers for the construction of Whyalla's Airport Security Upgrade.
The existing terminal building is set to be expanded and upgraded, with Council CEO Chris Cowley stating the project, “Is an opportunity for locals to get involved, with the direct benefits.”
Cowley believes using local contractors and builders is important for the economic growth of Whyalla and the community. Council are set to create a shortlist of successful Builders, who will then recieve a Request for Tender.
“Council wants to ensure the successful builder for the construction phase of the project uses local content as much as practicable.” Mr Cowley said.
All submissions are due today before 2pm.
The project currently in planning and is set to be discussed at Council's next meeting on the 20th of January.
Council have stated that Expressions of Interest can only be uploaded via the Tenders SA website here.
