The City of Whyalla Council have launched a Reconciliation Action Plan known as ‘RAP’.
Close to 50 people attended the launch, where Mayor Clare McLaughlin revealed, that the RAP has been developed in the spirit of reconciliation and acknowledgement of the traditional owners of the lands upon which the city of Whyalla was built.
The Reconciliation Working Group, of which McLaughlin is a member, have collaborated over the last twelve months to guide and focus the RAP, by turning intentions into action.
“The RAP framework allows us to further understand where we need to grow and develop, while demonstrating our commitments, actions and accountability,” Mayor McLaughlin said.
McLaughlin said that the development of this RAP had laid the foundations of Council and Whyalla’s ongoing reconciliation journey.
