The Upper Spencer Gulf is ahead of the game, thanks to the regions UniHub Port Pirie and Port Augusta campuses.
The National Regional, Rural and Remote Tertiary Education Strategy by federal Education Minister Dan Tehan has highlighted issues affecting regional students' ability to undertake tertiary education.
The report found that with fewer options available, students often face extra costs after relocating to capital cities for their studies.
The Upper Spencer Gulf UniHub gives regional students access to tertiary education without having to re-locate.
The Port Pire campus now has more than 70 students, with Port Augusta's campus set to open next year.
Chairperson Brenton Vanstone said, “Port Augusta has eagerly embraced the idea of having tertiary education delivery in their city.”
