Two men have been arrested after numerous thefts from building and construction sites in the Mid North.
Police allege that patrols were called to Avon, after reports of two men stealing railway sleepers.
A further search of the men’s vehicle uncovered a large amount of stripped copper wiring from newly built houses, stolen number plates, small amounts of methamphetamine and a vial of liquid suspected of being an illicit drug.
Checks on a trailer being used by the men found that it had also been stolen.
Both males were further linked to a number of thefts from petrol stations and diesel thefts from nearby businesses in the Clare Valley area.
A 46-year-old man and a 36-year-old man were charged with multiple offences including unlawful possession, theft and being unlawfully on premises. They were both refused bail and are set to appear in court at a later date.
