Whyalla Hosts ‘Future Drought Funding’ Meeting

The federal government’s ‘Future Drought Funding’ Consultative Committee will conduct a meeting in Whyalla tomorrow, offering attendee’s the opportunity to contribute their opinion on how to best utilise funding to support farming businesses and communities in drought.

From July 1st of 2020, $100 million dollars will be available to support Australian Farmers and communities in becoming more prepared for, and resilient to, the effects of drought.

The committee have already initiated multiple meetings across the country in the last six weeks, with Whyalla being the chosen host for South Australia’s only meeting.

Minister for Drought David Littleproud has stated that the Future Drought Fund Consultative Committee meetings are an important milestone in taking action on drought.

The Committee members each hold a track record of success in agricultural economics, managing climate risk, rural and regional development and natural resource management, whilst predominately hailing from regional areas themselves.

The committee are encouraging South Australian farmers, industry and rural community members to register their attendance and contribute their opinion at the meeting which takes place in Whyalla from 11am tomorrow.
