A free mental health awareness event will take place tonight in Riverton.
The event will begin at 7pm and is funded by the Federal Government’s Drought Communities Program.
Guest speaker Tom Downie, a former Greater Western Sydney ruckman, will share his story of hope, recovery and resilience in the face of a mental health condition.
Tom aims to make others aware that speaking up and making your support network aware of how you feel can be the first step in getting help.
Tom believes that sharing ‘not so great experiences’ among a community is powerful and can help a lot of people.
If you or someone you know needs help contact beyondblue on 1300 224 636 or Lifeline on 131114.
