Port Pirie will experience a temporary road closure today on Memorial Drive between The Terrace and Gertrude Street for the annual ‘Smelters Picnic’.
The closure will be in place between 6.00am and 6.00pm with the 116th year of the iconic event taking place in Memorial Park.
With over 80 different stalls offering a variety of food and drinks, as well as a baby show and unique entertainment, the event is set to attract a large crowd.
There will also be a pageant to name this year’s Picnic Queen, along with a Miss Junior Picnic pageant for entrants under 16.
With over 12,000 attendees’ last year the event is popular for locals and tourists alike.
