Whyalla Airport upgrade information night

A public consultation and information session for the proposed upgrades to the Whyalla airport is set to be held at the Whyalla Public Library tonight at 6pm.

The upgrades to the airport are, in part, a requirement to meet the Australian Governments measures to further strengthen Australia’s domestic and international aviation security with advanced screening technology being installed.

Members of the public seeking further information on the proposed upgrades can find the proposal documentation at the councils Darling Terrace office or at the Whyalla council’s website.

Council CEO Chris Cowley said the mandatory security upgrade from the Federal Government was an ideal opportunity to expand the airport even further and create a facility likely to attract even more people to Whyalla. He said it would make flying in and out of the city safer and more enjoyable for locals, visitors and the increasing number of business people and FIFO workers using the facility.

The information evening is free of charge and all are welcome.
